64 bit drivers

Has anyone had any luck with this? If anyone's made progress, starting a sourceforge project might be a good idea. I know there are a lot of people here who would be willing to lend their time.

I was curious as to if there was any way of getting the VT controller/driver working under x64 Vista?

I believe there's a 32-bit Driver emulation program that works with Vista, and Windows 7 google around. Also the drivers are open source here too, however overwhelming it may look I'm working on my own drivers so I can get the Pedals to work like Pedals instead of Buttons. So the answer is, it probably wont work right out installed. However through Emulation you should be fine. My suggestion however is to just make a XP Sp2 Partition, Most games that will Support the VT Controller in terms of Function are older anyway, since this new generation of games is dumbed down to WASD & Mouse with little joystick support. I tried to use it driving in Crysis once, but it was hard to get Crysis to accept anything but a 360 controller, which is unfortunate with Mechwarrior Living Legends on the way, Hopefully Mechwarrior 5(Yes it's being developed, No Shitting) will have advanced joystick support.

I did actually get a VT Controller to work with Mechwarrior Living Legends. It's just a pain to map all the functions right now - but there is a joystick configuration app in progress for it. The mod team had to add joystick support to Crysis themselves.

You can simply assign axes to the Pedals, e.g. U-Axis and V-Axis. I have done so e.g. for I-War2 (see link above).

The problem is they don't perform as an Axis at least i'm not aware they do. Maybe i'm wrong.

VT Controller Driver Update Project

I'm wanting to start a community project to update the drivers, mainly get them to work on 64bit operating systems as well as tune down the sensitivity/better deadzone setting, for the aiming lever as using it in the new AT1 Release is pretty much unplayable since the torso just shoots around constantly. My programming knowledge is limited but it's been a long time since this driver has gotten updated, I think it's on the community that uses it to continue support for the Device. I'll be looking into Driver tutorials and pulling out some old books to learn how to help. If all else fails without help from anyone else you can expect some progress from me eventually. I'm hoping to get it running in Windows 7

Has anything come of this?

I've read that you can install them in a virtual console (or xp mode in windows 7 professional), I've got a friend working on recompiling the source code to work in 64 bit. If he's successful I'll post the results.

I was unsuccessful installing the ppjoy and VT driver in xp mode of windows 7, however I installed xp on a separate partition and the drivers work fine, I guess that's the only way to get it to work for now.

32 bit drivers will not work on a 64-bit Machine regardless of what anyone tells you. The drivers need to be completely re-written. There are several people working on this Just hope one of us has time to get something done soon

im taking a look at the code now. it would help if i had more than a quarter of c++ under my belt, but i can understand most of it. if anybody else wants to join me in getting this working in an x64 windows 7 enviorment email me and we'll see what we can do.

I haven't tested the drivers in 32-bit Vista or 7, but I know they don't work in 64 bit. I've been searching around for someone with the knowhow to write the drivers but haven't had any luck so far.

I also found this, I hope it helps... http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/driver/64bitguide.mspx

I might be willing to help out with this. I don't have any real experience working with Windows drivers, but I do have a computer engineering background and the VT Controller is the only thing holding me back from upgrading to Windows 7. This could be a good learning project, too.

I've looked at the source and read a little bit on how to convert 32b drivers to 64b, but I really lack the skills to pull something off.

VT Controller as MIDI Device

Greetings all, good to see this forum is active! I'll be hanging around a little bit in the next little while, as I'm working on turning the VT Controller into a music controller. I'm also interested in getting some kind of programmability in how the buttons light up. If the lights could toggle on and off that would be sweet.

Anyways, I'll try to post videos of what I'm doing with the controller once I have them uploaded.

Cheers.
